Fire Alarm

Protecting people from the threat of fire is our strength. We've been doing it since 1929. With that kind of legacy, it’s no surprise we’ve become one of Canada’s largest suppliers of Life and Fire Safety solutions. Rest assured, you’re in very experienced hands.

Our committment to training is one more reason why thousands of customers count on us every day. Our team boasts 175 manufacturer-trained Fire Alarm Technicians in a talent pool of 750 based in 28 offices across Canada. They provide top-notch service backed by a large inventory that includes fire products from Edwards, one of the most renowned brands in the industry.

Best in Class Service

Our Fire Alarm Technicians are monitored for technical competency by a Qualification, Training and Review (QTR) program.

To advance, Technicians must demonstrate the required level of skill and ability with a broad range of products. Skills and needs are assessed at least once a year. One-on-one instruction is provided on the job by a Supervisor, Group Leader or Senior Technician. Formal performance evaluations are completed every six months until the top level is achieved, and at least annually thereafter. Hands-on manufacturer training is provided for programming, troubleshooting and repair. Technicians must achieve a minimum proficiency level of 80% before receiving a programmers key.

In many provinces, our Fire Alarm Technicians are members of the Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) and they abide by CFAA and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements. They complete annual training to maintain CFAA certification and ensure on-going technical competency.

Construction Engineers

Our fire alarm systems are designed to anticipate altered plans, so specification changes don't overtake the rate of construction. On-site modifications are possible because of minimal wiring requirements, construction-friendly terminations, reliable delivery of materials, and a simple and effective software program that allows users to take advantage of the fire alarm system's full capabilities.

Contractors

In new buildings and retrofits, deliveries are on-time and installation goes quickly. The modular fire alarm system response can be modified, often in minutes. Last minute changes are fast because of the ease of installation, electronic addressing, and the fire alarm control panel and device on-site programming capability.

Owners and Managers

You want your project completed on-time, on-budget, with reliable fire protection. With over 75 years in the Canadian life safety industry, we are uniquely positioned to help ensure your deadlines are met.

Safety Officers and Fire Marshals

A true network, our fire systems totally regenerate themselves in case of a problem. Each fire alarm control panel continually tests itself, even reporting when it needs cleaning. This makes it easier for you to keep up with changing safety regulations, perform checks and retrofits, and verify operation.

High Performance Genesis LED Series Notification

Genesis LED Series horns and LED strobes feature a sleek low-profile design and energy-efficient technology that makes them less expensive to install and operate. High performance LEDs translate into fewer circuits, power supplies and back-up power.

The Genesis LED Series devices deliver a highly controlled and efficiently focused light distribution pattern resulting in lower current requirements.

Field-configurable light and sound output levels provide the flexibility that modern life safety projects demand, while the Genesis LED control protocol keeps multiple strobes on compatible NAC circuits synchronized well within ULC and NFPA code requirements.

Signature Optica Sets the Standard

The new Signature Optica smoke detectors bring advanced optical sensing technology to a practical design that increases efficiency, saves installation time, cuts costs, and extends life safety and property protection capabilities. Continuous self-diagnostics ensure reliability over the long haul, while environmental compensation helps reduce maintenance costs.

Edwards Optica detectors were the first to receive certification to the UL standard for Fire Alarm Systems UL 268, 7th edition. New Optica detectors provide the best of all worlds with comprehensive life safety monitoring. The combination of optical smoke detection with rate-of-rise heat sensing technology provides efficient identification of smoldering fires, as well as fast flaming fires.
